How to clean silicone moulds correctly?
Silicone moulds are easy to clean and can be washed in a variety of ways to ensure durability and optimal performance. Here are a few tips:
You can wash them in the dishwasher without any problem. For effective drying, we recommend placing them in the oven at a low temperature or in a dehydrator.
For thorough cleaning, soak the moulds in very hot water (above 80°C) with a degreasing product, if necessary. Let the moulds soak for at least 30 minutes. Then run them through a tunnel wash to remove all deposits. After cleaning, the moulds should regain their original texture, like that of a new mould.
Another option is to soak the moulds in a mixture of white vinegar and water for 1 hour. Then wash them with soap and rinse them well.
If you have an ultrasonic bath, this method can speed up the cleaning process and provide very effective results in less time.
If the moulds have traces of grease on them, an effective technique is to fill them with water and freeze them. The resulting ice will carry the grease with it when it is removed, leaving the moulds free of residue.
The frequency of cleaning will depend on the type of products you mould. Do not store greasy moulds; decomposing grease can damage the life of the silicone.
